History

The Tribal Members of the Jamul Indian Village of California trace their roots 12,000 years back to a time of independence and self-sufficiency. A part of the Kumeyaay people, our ancestors hunted, fished, and raised their families in present-day San Diego County and northern Mexico.

Development

The Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation (JIVDC) is a wholly-owned entity of our Tribe. Our Tribe established the JIVDC to pursue economic development ventures on our behalf that provide revenue to the Tribal Government and improve the general welfare of our members.

Our Tribe regularly conducts and hosts events for our members and in the community to promote cultural awareness, build camaraderie, support charitable causes, and foster a supportive environment for growth and enrichment.

Government

Our Tribe is a sovereign nation that is self-governed by our membership, known as the General Council, and our elected officials, known as the Tribal Council. The General Council exercises full authority over all laws, programs, and initiatives undertaken by our Tribe and delegates select authority to the Tribal Council to further promote and protect our interests.
