    Cultural Monitoring

The ceremonial and cultural items left by our ancestors reflect the religious beliefs, rituals, customs, and practices of our Tribe. If items are discovered in a particular location, the site is part of a sacred, religious, or cultural landscape where these items remain today. They were left in this place for a specific reason and purpose. The Cultural Monitoring Department is committed to protecting our Tribe’s important cultural resources.

    Tribal Historic Preservation Office

The Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) for the Jamul Indian Village of California was established in 2017. The THPO oversees the Cultural Monitoring program for our Tribe, including oversight of historic buildings, sites, structures, and objects. One of our main goals is to record oral history from the Elders for preservation purposes.

  • Law Enforcement

The Tribe’s Security Department provides an essential public safety service to Reservation lands. Each Security Officer is charged with the responsibility to detect and report criminal activity, protect life and property, preserve the peace, and assist local law enforcement in the execution of their duties.
